Although I have graduated from university, there are still some memorable occasions that I can not forget. One of which was when I was in grade 10. I vividly remember that scorchingly hot summer day, in the afternoon, when we had a Math class. As the exam date nearly came, as well as the knowledge was too hard to absorb, the class ended later than usual and the teacher had to stay longer to make sure our concerns were resolved. Since it was 7pm already, I felt terribly hungry. Since I had a class afterwards, I found a grocery store to buy something to eat. Luckily, I managed to afford bread. On eating the bread, I caught a glance of my friend – who was also hungry and had a class afterward. However, he couldn’t afford anything to eat as he forgot to bring some money. Because I knew the experience of being hungry was terrible, I decided to share my bread with him. Despite not feeling full enough, I still relished the happiness of sharing. At that time, I learned the lesson of why ‘Sharing is earning more’. The following day, my friend offered me a meal in return.

Suggested vocabulary:

Part 3

Do children like to share?

I think it depends mostly on parental education and guidance. Most children are innately self-centered because they receive undivided attention from parents, which means they are unlikely to share. However, it is parents’ education that teaches children how to be more generous towards others and the value of sharing can be instilled in children’s mindset if parents teach them properly.
– parental upbringing : the upbringing of parents
– self-centered : wanting to attract attention
– undivided attention : attention
– instill something : to inject

How can parents teach their children to share?

As children perceive their parents as role models, parents should therefore set a good example for them to follow. Parents should share something and show children the value of sharing. For example, on giving a free meal to poor people, parents can tell kids that they are actually saving a life.
– role model: ideal model
– set a good example: give an exemplary example

What are the benefits of sharing for children?

Sharing enables children to be more warm-hearted and benevolent towards others because they can reap the happiness of helping someone and they may receive more in return.
