Opportunity for students in this year’s university admission season! Hanoi Medical University announced the university admission method, in which candidates with IELTS above 6.5 will be awarded a maximum of 3 points!
Specifically, the school uses two main methods for admission, including based on the results of the high school graduation exam applicable to all majors and considering a combination of international English or French certificates for the medical major trained in Hanoi. Hanoi Medical University requires candidates to have a valid international English or French certificate, valid at least until the date of application submission (expected before June 15) and achieve the following minimum scores:

When meeting the required certificate requirements, candidates will be admitted with a score no more than 3 points lower than the standard score for the Medical major based on the high school graduation exam score. However, candidates will still have to achieve a total score equal to or higher than the threshold to ensure input quality as prescribed by the school.
In addition to the above two methods, Hanoi Medical University still recruits directly, giving priority to admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Accordingly, for the majors of Medicine and Dentistry, the school directly recruits candidates who have won medals in international Olympiads in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Information Technology; candidates who participate in national team selection exams for international competitions in the above subjects, and candidates who won first prize in national competitions for excellent students in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Information Technology, and English.
Candidates in the national team participating in the international science and technology competition and having an IELTS certificate of 6.5 or higher will also be considered for direct admission to the major that matches the competition topic. However, they must report the competition topic in English to the school’s admissions board.
Due to the epidemic situation in 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training cannot send a national team to participate in international competitions. Candidates who win prizes in national competitions and are eligible to participate in international science and technology competitions (with confirmation from the Ministry of Education and Training) and have an IELTS certificate of 6.5 will also be considered normally after reporting the topic in English to the admissions council.
In addition, candidates who win first, second, and third prizes in national science and technology competitions will be considered for direct admission to bachelor’s degree programs suitable for the content of the competition topic in which the candidates won prizes.
The direct admission quota is not more than 25% of the total quota for each major. If the number of applications exceeds the direct admission quota, the school will consider priority criteria. The first priority is the order of award. The second priority is the average score of grades 10, 11, and 12.
If the national prize winner in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, IT, English does not meet the direct admission requirements or is not used for direct admission, the candidate will be awarded bonus points in the total score of the 3 Math, Chemistry, Biology exams for admission consideration, specifically the first prize winner will receive 5 points, the second prize winner will receive 4, the third prize winner will receive 3, and the encouragement prize winner will receive 2 points. Candidates who participate in the national excellent student exam but do not win a prize will receive 1 point.
In 2020, Hanoi Medical University set the benchmark score from 22.4 to 28.9, in which Medicine was the highest, Nursing at Thanh Hoa branch was the lowest.
