“Motivation” is an important and indispensable factor in creating a positive impact on the learning process and results of students. The right motivation will help students try to move forward and not procrastinate in learning. So how to create and maintain motivation in learning? The article below will suggest some useful methods for you!

I. Create motivation by setting goals

One very effective way that you can apply is to set yourself specific learning goals. These can be short-term goals (for example, goals for an upcoming test) or long-term goals (perhaps the achievements you want to achieve in the next 2 to 3 years). The goals set will become the motivation that urges you to try tirelessly and be willing to do anything to achieve them. Another effect of setting those goals is that it will help increase the patience and perseverance of the learner himself.

II. Eliminate distractions

Your motivation to study will most likely be affected by the distractions around you. There are dozens of activities that will definitely make you feel more interested than sitting at your desk, such as surfing the web, watching a game show, hanging out with friends, etc. However, remember that you must maintain your motivation to study to achieve your goals. Distractions will reduce your motivation and are the main cause of losing concentration. So how to get rid of all these factors? Remember that these factors always exist and you cannot eliminate them all. Therefore, the best way is to determine your concentration time. Depending on each person, this time can last 15 minutes, 30 minutes or even several hours continuously. When you start to lose focus and want to do something else while studying, take a piece of paper and write down what you want to do, then do it when you finish studying. In addition, you should not study continuously for a long time because this is not really effective. You should have short breaks of about 5-10 minutes to relax and exercise before returning to studying.

III. No procrastination

“Leave it for tomorrow” is probably the thought of many people, not just students. The attitude of procrastination makes everything stagnant and makes your motivation to study go down. The solution is when you need to do something, do it right away. For example, when learning English, you feel that you are quite weak in speaking skills. Don’t think that you will learn it in the future when you have enough confidence and motivation. Start improving that skill right away. Motivation does not come naturally, you have to be the one to create it. You should know that when you stop and rest, others are still working hard. Stopping here also means going backwards and being left behind.

IV. Watch more videos, read motivational quotes

Don’t think of this as redundant and a waste of time. If you do this over and over again, your brain will automatically remember and follow it. You will be inspired, energized and positive from these resources.
